About Us
When Han Wei Lee went to southern California in 2017 to visit his sister, June, and her new baby, he wasn't expecting to return to Australia with an idea for a fun and family-friendly twist on the much-loved boba – "bubble" – tea drink.
But sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them. While in California, June took him to a popular Taiwanese restaurant. With Taiwan being the origin of boba tea, Han Wei was keen to enjoy a cup and experience the Californian take on the beverage. It was an experience to remember.
Laid out before him was a boba tea "all-you-can-add" concept. It featured a huge range tantalising tea and toppings. Han Wei and June felt like kids again! They let their curiosity and taste buds go wild and created unique beverages – just for them. As Han Wei and June let their curiosity and taste buds go wild experimenting with the different flavours, they had a thought: "Wouldn't it be great to bring the concept of a 'set price for unlimited toppings' to Australia?"
Back in Melbourne, Han Wei got to work researching and testing to unearth the best-tasting and quality of toppings and tea.
Exactly two years later, the siblings launched their flagship Toppings n Tea store in Melbourne's southeast. It's the first and only "DO IT YOURSELF" boba tea business – with a standard price per cup in the southern hemisphere.
The fun and fresh take on the traditional boba tea has been an immediate hit, with both experienced and first-time boba tea drinkers giving it top ratings on social media and google reviews.
